With seven sambas and six bossas ‘Equilibria’ is pure and simple feel-good Brazil from start to finish.
‘Terra De Ninguem is an up-tempo flute laden bossa that begins proceedings, swiftly followed by
another bossa ‘Love Sorte’. Next up is ‘Saudade Rio’, a sweet slow samba with a dash of r ‘n’ b
that’s a peon to the city Sabrina calls home and as she tells us, who’se influence runs throughout
‘Equilibria’: "I was born in Rio de Janeiro, the city of samba and I’ve always listened to this music as
long as I can remember. Whether it’s Sergio Mendes or Banda Black Rio, Ana Mazzotti or Marcos
Valle, samba and bossa are part of my life. With my father in Azymuth and my grandfather Zezinho
who played with Sergio Mendes, I have always been surrounded by the samba beat!”
‘Equilibria’ contains the original versions of the two 12 dancefloor smashes from Sabrina: ‘Estacao
Verao’, originally released last summer with a firing Kenny Dope remix and here in its original bossa
style whilst ‘Maracatueira’ is a samba that was turned into a jazz-house anthem by Incognito. The
album also features 2 covers – ‘Terra De Ninguem’ written by Marcos Valle and ‘Eu Sou Mais Eu’,
originally a hit for the now sadly deceased Brazilian pianist Ana Mazotti. With its collection of both up
and down tempo bossas and sambas, expect a plethora of remixes of all styles of various cuts from
‘Equilibira’ later this year.
As the name suggests, ‘Equilibria’, is the perfect mix - classic Brazilian songwriting combined with
contemporary production – guaranteeing this album appeal for both established Far Out fans as well as
those people into the sound of ‘Nu-Brazil’. “I think that this is the first contemporary Brazilian album of
the last 15 years that measures up to the classic Brazilian albums of the past” adds producer Venom.
We hope you’ll agree with him!
